Stojan Aralica (1883-1980)
Stojan Aralica was born in Škare in 1883, and died in Belgrade in 1980. The life of Stojan Aralica can be traced through his studies in Munich in the period between 1909 until 1914, a short stint in Prague, refinement in Paris, life in Zagreb and finally moving to Belgrade in 1941 where, apart from living in Stockholm from 1946 until 1948, he lives out his life.
During the World War I he ran an art school in Zagreb. He became an associate member of the Serbian Academy of Science and Arts in 1965 and regular member in 1968. He was also a member of the Yugoslavian Academy of Sciences and Arts, a member of Artists Association of Serbia and the Art groups Oblik (Shape), Dvanaestorica (The Twelve) and Šestorica (the Six). His opus consists of over 1.500 works.
He won numerous awards including: “October award” of the city of Belgrade in 1959, “Seventh of July Award” in 1963 and “First poster” of the Serbian Academy of Science and Arts representatives for his contribution to science and arts that he was awarded in 1974.
