ARTE gallery in cooperation with the Italian Institute of Culture in Belgrade organizes an exhibition called “I luoghi della mente” (“Imaginary places of the mind”), the works of the Italian artist Daniela Campo. The exhibition will feature the most representative works – watercolors and paintings – created in the past two decades, and the exhibition represents the first presentation of her work to the Belgrade audience.

Daniele Campo began her painting practice in Milan at the beginning of the seventies of the last century and since then she has exhibited at solo and group exhibitions in Italy, Germany, Spain, Holland, as well as in the United States of America. She had her last solo exhibition in Ljubljana.
Campo is particularly connected to Belgrade because of our renowned artist Radomir Damnjanović Damnjan, with whom he has lived on the Milan-Belgrade route since the mid-seventies. Part of her oeuvre was created precisely in their studio in Belgrade, which especially refers to a series of watercolors, the most representative of which will be presented at this exhibition. In addition to watercolors, the exhibition will include her painting works that make up the second period of her creativity, the phase called “I luoghi della mente”.

The displayed works allow us to explore the depths of Daniela’s mind, to see her thought processes and to get lost in the labyrinths of her impressions. Her artistic expression takes us through different dimensions and sensibilities, revealing hidden places and inner landscapes of the mind.

The exhibition is accompanied by a monograph that deals with the author’s life and analyzes her decades-long oeuvre. The monograph is the result of the collaboration of two authors, prominent art historian and art critic, award-winning director and screenwriter, Đorđe Kadijević, and art historian and ARTE gallery curator Jana Milosavljević.
