Leonid Šejka (1932–1970)
He painted since 1950. He was one of the founders of the Baltazar group that grew into the Mediala in November of 1957. Program texts followed the formation of the group,which he wrote.He participated in all of the exhibitions of the group from 1970.
He graduated at the Architecture University in Belgrade in 1960. He was a member of the Artists’ Association of Serbia since 1961. His first group exhibition was in 1953, and his first individual exhibition was held at Belgrade’s Graphic Collective gallery in 1958. After that, he exhibited at numerous individual and collective exhibitions at home and abroad.
Šejka also made sculptures, and objects, book illustrations, set design, and he also wrote theoretic texts. Apart from a series of published magazine articles, he posted a Treatise on painting for which he received the Nolit award in 1965.
