Slavoljub Slava Bogojević (1922 — 1978)

Slavoljub Slava Bogojević’s artistic path was complex and intermittent, even uncertain at some times. His stylistic path was diverse and he wasn’t ever committed to a specific technique or theme.

He studied at The Academy of Fine Arts in Nedeljko Gvozdenović class, and later on went on specialization in Zora Petrović’s class. He was a member of  Jedanaestorica (eng. The Eleven) and the Novi Sad group Šestorica (eng. The Six).

Slava produced portraits, still lifes, vedutes, landscapes, religious and mythological subjects. In the mid-sixties he distanced himself from representing reality, and his opus became more stylized and geometric. After that, he entered a state of illusions and dreams, a more fantastical and symbolic sphere.

In the sixties pigment outweighed line, which he suppressed for the sake of emotion, and he entered the field of enformel. In the works exhibited during the mid-sixties narration was reduced to a minimum.
